Just remember to remove the old driver first. I went to the device manager and rolled back the driver, it is working fine now. Even after reinstalling it all it still won’t recognize.
I have a HP dvus. To fix this issue go to device manager, then under personal identification devices, right click on the authentec fingerprint reader.
I’ve uninstalled the software digitalpersona Pro and the AuthenTec finger reader driver. You can find it on the HP Website.
I have no freaking clue as to why this is now happening. I’m running on Ultimate Vista 64bit. I have even gone to the DigitalPersona website but found nothing. Microsoft would disable this update before launch a fixed one, since this is causing many issues.
AuthenTec AESA fingerprint reader isnt recognized
There is a brand new driver available from Windows Update, but it doesn’t work. I have windows updates autbentec to ask me first, but this one has a mind of it’s own.

Monday, October 6, 2: I akthentec the optional Authentec AESA update and it caused my fingerprint reader to stop working. Monday, November 10, I would go straight to the Device Manager and Rollback, but the option is greyed out. Windows Vista IT Pro.
Saturday, October 11, 3: I have updated the program and restarted the computer several times however the reader is still not detected. Thursday, October authenec, 4: Not an IT pro? I have tried all the other drivers on this thread, but nothing happens and Windows ultimately automatically updates the driver anyway to the new one!
